HOPE joins anti-drugs rally in Kolkata
Today, 26 June, is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. In line with this year’s theme: Healthy Communities without Drugs, HOPE staff in Kolkata and community members took part in an anit-drugs rally in the city, organised by Friends of HOPE.
Solvent abuse is a major problem for many young people in Kolkata. Children abandoned on the streets are vulnerable and at risk and many end up taking drugs and becoming addicted at a very young age. In 2005, HOPE initiated an intervention programme and then set-up of a Rehabilitation Home, Punorjibon, in August 2005 to help children become free of drugs and rebuild their lives.
Please support HOPE’s anti-drugs programmes by giving what you can to help children rehabilitate. Please share this message.
