We are proud to demonstrate and celebrate our continued commitment to improve the lives of young girls and women living in the slum communities of Kolkata and West Bengal, India. Without The Hope Foundation many of these women would be subjected to lives of poverty and abuse. As you know HOPE was first established in 1999 by Maureen Forrest as a protection home for girls and gender equality is at the heart of HOPE. Today, HOPE funds and operates many projects devoted to the protection, education and empowerment of girls and young women.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]This year The Hope Foundation is supporting the message of IWD which is #EmbraceEquity.

We have also launched a campaign to raise much-needed healthcare funds for HOPE’s Mother & Child Care Unit.

Nearly one-third of women in India have experienced physical or sexual violence, finds the National Family Health Survey-5 Report 2022. Incidents of violence at home affect the mental and physical state of a child. One of the common forms of abuse and violence against mothers is separating their children from them and forcing them to leave home.

The Mother and Child Care Unit, established by HOPE in 2010, is a short-stay care unit which provides safe shelter to mothers and their children who were abandoned by their families and/or experienced domestic violence from their husbands and were compelled to leave their homes and take shelter on the streets, pavements and platforms of Kolkata.

Just €800 will cover the annual healthcare costs of the 16 mothers and their children residing at the MCCU. You can donate to this campaign using the form below.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”51637″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Your donation will help us to buy medicines for the treatment of chronic and long-term illnesses like cancer, tuberculosis, psychosocial disorders as well as therapeutic support which are not available free of charge.

This March we ask you to support this campaign in any way you can. Any donation, big or small will help these women and their babies lead safe & independent lives.
