We are very proud to announce that our incredible partnership with Specsavers Ireland has been shortlisted for the Charities Institute Ireland “Charity Excellence Awards 2023”, in the category of Corporate Charity Partnership of the Year!

These awards aim to highlight and reward excellence within the charity sector and this category award aims to recognise and celebrate the most successful partnership between a charity and a commercial organisation that has brought strong mutual benefits to both parties.

Here is what this life-changing partnership has accomplished in 6 years:

Nearly 50,000 people were seen at an eye camp or clinic
Over 13,500 medicines haven been dispensed
1,710 people have had life-changing eye surgery
Nearly 22,000 people who needed glasses now have them
24 students from West Bengal have taken a 2-year Optometry Course with 8 more to start in November

In 2017 Specsavers store partner, Lisa Walsh, travelled to Kolkata with 3 colleagues to support an eye clinic run by our hospital. On her return Lisa spoke to her colleagues about the work she had done and seen. They voted to nominate HOPE as charity partner, for 3 years. 6 years later this extraordinary and impactful partnership is still going strong.

We are so grateful for Specsavers Ireland’s unwavering support and commitment. We are so grateful and proud of what has been achieved so far.

The Awards Gala Dinner will be held on October 11th at the illustrious Round Room in Dublin’s historic Manson House. Fingers crossed!
